Residents support Fiona's campaign to protect front line policing Fiona has asked residents in Britwell about police and crime, over 200 people have replied to her survey so far. Almost everyone who responded backed Fiona's campaign against the Tory-Lib Dem government cuts which will mean 800 fewer police staff and officers in the Thames Valley over the next few years. 114 police officer posts and 155 police staff are being cut in the current year. Fiona said: "Residents want visible policing, and they want evening patrols. That depends on having enough police at the front line. When Labour was in government Slough's police numbers grew to record levels, now Conservative policies mean they will fall. We know what a difference more bobbies on the beat have made in Slough and I will be working to ensure they are protected for the future. I helped to persuade our Chief Constable to keep neighbourhood police teams, but the government's cuts to the police budget are putting the backup services they need at risk." Fiona has presented the results of the survey to Shadow Home Secretary, the Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP, to Slough's police commander, Richard Humphries, and the Minister of State for policing, the Rt Hon Nick Herbert MP, this week.
