Fiona walks to help local children learn to read

Fiona walked for Assisting Berkshire Children to read on Sunday 27 March 2011, around Savill Gardens.

She sent out an appeal to Facebook friends and fellow MPs and backers included Secretary of State for International Development, Andrew Mitchell MP. Fiona has raised £415 so far.

Fiona said: "I was proud to raise this money for such a good cause. I believe reading is a human right. ABC to read, which I helped found, provides volunteers who help children in school to overcome barriers to being successful readers. It's an organisation which makes a real difference to local children. I know the schools appreciate what they do and there are lots of children who go to secondary school well prepared because of the work done by volunteers from ABC to read. I am glad I was able to help them by walking around Virginia Water this weekend."
